Golf Bunkers
High efficiency drainage for golf course bunkers
What are the benefits?
  • Stops stone migration into your bunkers and contamination of the bunker sand.
  • Proven long lasting drainage system
  • HydroBlox will not drop or settle making for a very safe and stable drainage system.
  • HydroBlox resists the effects of fine particle infiltration (i.e. clogging)
  • Environmentally friendly drainage material offering exceptional performance and unique physical and practical characteristics
  • HydroBlox is lightweight, easy to handle and transport.
  • Fast and simple installation leading to reduced construction costs.
How do I use HydroBlox ?
  • HydroBlox replaces stone and pipe in the bunker.
  • The high void structure has increased efficiency when compared to pipe & stone.

How do I install HydroBlox?
  • HydroBlox is very simple to install. Place the HydroBlox (side by side) across the field area.
  • Install root zone and turf above the HydroBlox base.
How deep in the ground do HydroBlox need to be?
  • HydroBlox can be installed at any depth up to 12”below surface level.

What is the size and weight of HydroBlox?
  • Each HydroBlox is 40” (long) x 9” (wide) x 2” (deep).
  • 13.23 pounds. (approx.)
Do I need to use pipe under HydroBlox?
  • No. HydroBlox will allow water to flow into and along the block. With pipe, a main outlet /carrier drain is required.

Do I need to use a geotextile?
  • No. Your backfill material should be in contact with the HydroBlox.
  • (A geotextile layer will clog and block up.)

Do I need to use stone on top of HydroBlox?
  • No. The root zone material should be in direct contact with the HydroBlox.
How strong are HydroBlox?
  • Under compression, HydroBlox will carry over 102.41 tons/sq. ft.

What is the flow rate of HydroBlox?
  • Over 0.810 gallon/sq.ft./second.

Will HydroBlox dry out the turf?
  • No. HydroBlox has internal water storage, which helps to balance water levels in the profile.
How do I install HydroBlox in a bunker?
  • Cut shallow drainage trenches into the stable sub-base of the bunker using lateral / herringbone branches to reach all areas.
  • Direct the drainage trenches to the low point of the bunker.
Identify the low point in the bunker.
Cut shallow drainage trenches into stable sub-base of the bunker using lateral or herringbone branches to reach all areas of the bunker.
Direct the drainage trenches to the low point of the bunker.
Place the HydroBlox (end to end) into the drainage trenches.
Where necessary, use double thickness HydroBlox for large bunkers and herringbones. Connect the HydroBlox to the outlet pipe.
Backfill to the required level with bunker sand (4" to 5")
