The short version: HydroBlox simply moves water from where you do not want the water to where you do want the water.

HydroBlox planks are installed in the wet area and continued on to the dry area. The water moves through HydroBlox because it is the path of least resistance.

Water follows the path of the HydroBlox planks (least resistance).

The other half of the magic is that the irregular pattern which makes up the HydroBlox plank provides small spaces inside the board for the water to pass through. This weave is tight enough that will not allow silt or soil inside the plank, but will allow the water to flow freely. HydroBlox is much stronger than pipe and will not crush over time. HydroBlox truly is an underground gutter system.

Have a look at the first photo on the left. A plank of HydroBlox with clay packed on top was placed in an aquarium. Water was recirculated over this plank for 4 months. You can see from the photo on the right, the HydroBlox plank did not clog!
